We are looking for an Advisor Operations Centre (Mine) to identify the Mine full potential and improvement opportunities to achieve it. This position will work on a 7-on / 7-off roster with a 12-hour dayshift rotation.

The Advisor will provide operational leaders with value optimized plans that accurately reflect operational constraints to identify threats and opportunities and are effectively communicated at the right time with the right level of granularity to enable effective and efficient execution. The Advisor will lead initiatives and manage change (including cultural transformation, strategic change, and commitment to continuous improvement) to drive effectiveness and efficiency across the business.

Reporting to the Superintendent Operations Center at our Labrador operations, you will be:

  • Leveraging inputs from Weekly Planners and Specialist Planners (Drill & Blast, Geo‐Tech, etc.) for the development of a Daily Mine Plan which provides guidance for the next 24-hour period for the Mine Operations Supervisor to determine required movement of materials.
  • Developing task assignments to help achieve the Weekly Plan (2WDT) and Three-Month Plan (3MRF). The assignment list will be provided as part of the Daily Mine Plan and is to be reviewed daily to help identify areas of weakness for corrective action with Operations.
  • Developing and tracking of task adherence with senior leaders in the Mine, providing suggestions for improvements or corrective actions.
  • Providing information and support for day-to-day operational activities.
  • Supporting training and providing support for shift Supervisors to ensure that decisions taken provide the highest possible system value for the short term and following day.
  • Working in a highly technological environment.
  • Interacting with a variety of stakeholders upstream and downstream of the value chain to gather and provide operational direction and support.
  • Reporting accurate operational information to ensure informed value chain decisions can be made.
  • Providing priority setting task assignments to the Mine Operations team.
  • Utilizing Dispatch to ensure assets are optimized within the Mine.
  • Working as part of the key team in the evolution of the operational model of IOC.
  • Working collaboratively within the broader Operations Centre team.
  • Contributing to IOC`s Safety Programs by being a visible advocate of IOC`s commitment to zero harm. Effectively employ CRM tools to develop critical risk awareness in others. Make a tangible contribution to IOC`s ability to eliminate fatalities and to reduce the risk of injuries.
  • Maintaining strong stakeholder relationship by providing:
    • Effective delivery of the Day Plan to oncoming shift Supervisor and Dispatcher.
    • Review of daily Maintenance Plan updates for inclusion in the Day Plan and re‐optimize with the Mine Week Planner for deviations from the current week plan.
    • Improvement in Drill Blast Planning and Blast Recovery, leveraging the Blast Plans prepared in the weekly planning space.
    • Support to the Mine Tech Services week planner during the development of the following week plans.
    • Review of quality impacts to downstream operations and work with shift Supervisors to provide guidance to make necessary corrections as required.
    • Regular pit tours and communication / discussions with shift Supervisors on adherence to Day Plan or recommend alterations in the event of issues that are not part of the plan.
    • Assistance with in‐pit situational awareness for the Operations Centre through regular updates to the Operations Center Superintendent on current operating conditions and upcoming risks.

What you'll bring:

  • Mine Engineering degree or other relevant education is preferred; related field experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of operational experience in an open pit mine.
  • Self-motivated, strong skills to structure and organize work.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and very strong interpersonal skills.

The following additional skills will be considered as key asset to the role:

  • Previous dispatch experience.
  • Experience in mine equipment asset health.
