Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our Health and Wellness Team at HealthCaringKW. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting clients and community members with program delivery, while also promoting healthy smiles and oral health through our Healthy Smiles and Ontario Seniors Dental Care Programs.

ResponsibilitiesHealth and Wellness Programs
  • Co-facilitate in-person and community-based programs focused on life-skill development, capacity building, volunteerism, and social networking.
  • Pick up program items and complete budget/expense forms.
  • Support program recruitment, registration, setup, and community displays.
  • Assist with program planning, evaluation, data entry, and reports.
  • Support Health and Wellness team at community events, front desk, and other duties.
Healthy Smiles/Ontario Seniors Dental Care Programs
  • Promote and distribute Healthy Smiles Ontario information through direct contact with community members and partners.
  • Compile and submit dental program data to funders.
  • Promote and distribute Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program information.
  • Facilitate oral health workshops, education groups, and community health fairs targeting children, youth, parents, and seniors.
  • Identify eligible clients, assist with eligibility forms, and share oral health awareness resources.
General Responsibilities
  • Participate in team and staff meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Work from a Social Determinants of Health perspective to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequities.
  • Maintain confidentiality, client safety, and minimize risk to clients, volunteers, and the Centre.
  • Work in accordance with the Health Centre's Vision, Mission, and Values.
  • Adhere to all Health Centre policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
