Airport Security Guard (Ottawa)

Type: Part-time

Shift: Varies

Shift Type: Days, Afternoons or Overnight, with weekend work

Wage: $18.00 to $19.19

As an Airport Security Guard, the role will require the following activities to be performed:

Conduct patrols of designated areas within the airport premises to detect and deter suspicious activities or behavior.Monitor security checkpoints and screening procedures to prevent unauthorized access and ensure compliance with airport security regulations.Monitor and provide access control to the secure side of the Airport.Directing or controlling movement of vehicles (including commercial and public vehicles) at specific locations.Ensure the separation of vehicles and pedestrians by controlling crosswalks, lane separations areas designated by the Ottawa International Airport Authority (OIAA) from time to time.Conduct unattended vehicle inspections, ticketing and report-writing during patrols.Perform routine inspections of airport facilities, including terminals, gates, and baggage claim areas, to identify security vulnerabilities and address any safety hazards.Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies or alarms and take appropriate action to resolve situations in accordance with established protocols.Collaborate with airport personnel, law enforcement agencies, and other security professionals to coordinate security efforts and maintain a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders.Maintain accurate records of security activities, incidents, and investigations, and prepare detailed reports for management review.Inspect security systems, including doors, cameras and locks.Verify airport restricted area passes with a mobile card reader.Operate Explosive Trace Detection Equipment (EVD) as required.Detect infringement and enforce regulations related to the Aeronautics Act and other aerodrome rules.Escort first responder in/out of the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) during emergencies.Escort unauthorized personnel out of restricted areas.

Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required:

Must be 18+ years of age due certification requirements.High School Diploma or GED Valid Ontario Security Guard License (OGL).Must be eligible to meet Transport Canada Security Clearance and Restricted Area Identity Card(RAIC). For the RAIC requirements must be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen and have a minimum residency in Canada of 5 years, due to government security clearance requirements.

Specific Requirement:

Preference will be given to candidates holding a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)Proficient in French (verbal), is considered an assetCapable of working both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.Able to meet the physical endurance requirements to stand and/or walk for extended periods.Willingness and ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
