About the Role:

We are seeking a creative, dynamic, and committed Educational Assistant to join our team. As an integral member of the school team, you will provide support to students with exceptional needs within the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities
  • Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implementing special programs
  • Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students, physiotherapy exercises, and stretches
  • Modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities, and speech/language issues
  • Perform outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties
Requirements:
  • Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience with school-aged special needs children
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
  • Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • DSW/CYW
  • Autism experience
  • Assistive Technology
  • Behaviour Modification
  • Behaviour Management Systems
  • Computer Skills
  • Crisis Intervention
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Prepared to assist with toileting
  • Yard duty
Additional Comments:

Primary Special Needs (PSN), ASD

Who Can Apply:

Qualified regular part-time employees are eligible to increase their status and apply to part-time term vacancies if it does not interfere with their regular assignment.

Salary:

$27.45 to $30.59 per hour, depending on the term assignment
