Job Title: Lead Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic

Amalgamated Mining Equipment Ltd. is seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Hand Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Edmonton, AB. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing mechanical support and expertise to our equipment operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure projects are carried out meticulously, while meeting all budget and time constraints.
  • Supervise and lead a team of mechanics to repair and maintain heavy duty equipment.
  • Responsible for overhaul, maintenance, service, and reconditioning of mining equipment.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and inspecting equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work.
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and react to urgent operational needs.
  • Adhere to the highest health and safety standards and is aware of the company's policies and procedures on health & safety.
Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of heavy duty off road equipment experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong drive to learn new skills.
  • Possess a willingness to take on progressively more responsibilities as they grow and develop with the company.
  • Experience with Underground mining or farming/agricultural equipment is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills – ability to work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize duties and solve problems.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with the utmost professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards teamwork and safety.
  • Previous underground or farming/agricultural work experience is considered an asset.
  • Diagnose and complete repairs on equipment such as electric/hydraulic jumbo, diesel trucks, diesel scoops, various underground equipment;
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatic and machine assembly is required.
