Ontario Line South
Our team is mobilizing its design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometre tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
- Stations:
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown.

Responsibilities:
- Safety Leadership: Provide strong leadership in safety, setting clear expectations, and promoting a culture of safety-first throughout the organization.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Training and Education: Oversee safety training programs, conduct safety orientations, and provide ongoing education to employees and contractors.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, ensuring that safety standards and protocols are consistently followed.
- Safety Reporting: Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports for management, highlighting key safety metrics and trends.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards, ensuring that OTG remains in compliance.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first-aid protocols.
- Safety Committee: Collaborate with the safety committee to address safety concerns, gather feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
- Contractor Safety: Evaluate and oversee the safety performance of subcontractors and suppliers, holding them to OTG's safety standards.
- Safety Culture: Foster a strong safety culture by promoting safety awareness, engaging employees, and recognizing safety achievements.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. A relevant professional certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in the construction or infrastructure industry. Must be comfortable working at site.
- Strong knowledge of local health and safety regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
