Summary: Ambulance Readiness Technicians are responsible for sanitizing and processing medical equipment, restocking supplies, performing vehicle checks, and maintaining stockroom and work areas to ensure BC Ambulance Service resource availability.

As an Ambulance Readiness Technician with BC Emergency Health Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring the readiness of ambulances and medical equipment for emergency response. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sanitizing and processing critical medical equipment, including deep cleaning and decontamination of HIV, Hepatitis, Norwalk, and other similar contaminants.
  • Restocking supplies on vehicles and maintaining stockroom and work areas to maximize BC Ambulance Service resource availability.
  • Performing and documenting vehicle checks, including primary equipment and supply checks, to ensure vehicles are ready for use by paramedics.
  • Liaising with paramedics, supervisors, and IT to assist in the repair of radio and telecommunications equipment on BCEHS units.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on medical equipment, including stretchers, stair chairs, scoop backboards, oxygen, and suction testing, in accordance with provincial standards, policy, and procedure.
  • Receiving, unpacking, and checking incoming inventory, ensuring goods are delivered as per specifications, and reporting discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Jockeying the BC Ambulance Service fleet to and from service centers for operational purposes, and on occasion, directly to incidents.
  • Identifying problems, liaising with appropriate staff, and ensuring quick turnaround of vehicle and equipment to minimize downtime and maximize resource availability.
  • Assisting with inventory checking, data input of inventory on hand/stock re-orders into computerized systems, and inputting information into other computerized systems.

As a successful candidate, you will possess:

  • Grade 10, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A valid Class 5 vehicle license.
  • Previous experience working with cleaning equipment, tools, and protocols, including deep cleaning and decontamination.
