RPN General Internal Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team in the Internal Medicine department at Providence Health Care. As an RPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of nursing practice excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct nursing care to a diverse patient population, including those with multiple medical co-morbidities and social complexity.
- Work collaboratively with the inter-professional team to advocate for and promote wellness, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and ethical nursing care.
- Contribute to the advancement of nursing practice excellence through ongoing learning, education, experience, and reflective practice.
- Optimize patient care outcomes by being accountable for one's decisions and professional practice, establishing a therapeutic relationship with patients, and collaborating with other members of the patient's care team.
- Successful completion of a Practical Nursing Diploma Program.
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BLS Certification required.
- Must have worked as an RPN in an acute setting within the last year (Internal Medicine Experience preferred).
- Experience with telemetry preferred.
- Coronary Care 1 or equivalent required or completion within 1 year of hire.
- Certification (or equivalent experience) in Gentle Persuasive Approach, Managing Responsive Behaviours preferred.
- Experience working with the frail elderly population.
- Experience working with patients experiencing stroke.
- Experience and interest in working with patients experiencing homelessness.
- Experience and interest in working with patients with complex mental health and addiction issues.
- Ability to respond to all Emergency Code situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other professions/disciplines in a team environment.
- Excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients.
- Ability to engage and educate patients and families.
- Proven planning, time management, organization, and coordination skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.
- Must have an excellent attendance record.
Working Hours: Must be available for all shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays) - 11.25 hour rotating shifts.
