Toronto, Ontario, Canada Queen's University Full time

The Division of Hematology at Queen's University is growing. We warmly invite applications for an Academic Classical Hematologist to lead Kingston Health Sciences Centre's Apheresis Program and contribute to clinical care, research, and education.

The Division of Hematology is housed within the Department of Medicine, with close ties with the Department of Oncology. The Division is comprised of ten faculty members, supported by a strong allied health professional team, and benefits from excellent collaborative working relationships with the Departments of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, and Pediatrics. The group provides clinical care to a large catchment area, with out-patient specialty clinics including bleeding disorders, thrombosis, and red blood cell disorders. The FACT accredited autologous stem cell transplant program completes around 60 transplants per year. A CAR T cell therapy program is in development. In collaboration with other specialists including Neurology and Nephrology, plasma exchange is provided for patients with non-hematologic disorders.

There is a thriving Hematology residency training program, as well as high-quality externally funded research programs.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to provide exemplary clinical service. In addition, the successful applicant would be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engage in independent or collaborative research, and contribute to the administrative functions of the University and Hospitals. It is expected that candidates will exhibit a strong potential for innovative and scholarly research, as well as provide evidence of a robust academic portfolio with demonstrable teaching experience. Candidates must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent). Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Hematology by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Members of the Department of Medicine enjoy a competitive compensation package. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Faculty and their dependents are eligible for an extensive benefits package including prescription drug coverage, vision care, dental care, long term disability insurance, life insurance and access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program. Employees also participate in a pension plan. Tuition assistance is available for qualifying employees, their spouses and dependent children.
