Speech Language Pathology Assistant Job Description

As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant at Monarch House, you will play a vital role in supporting the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) team in achieving patient goals. Your primary focus will be on working with school-aged children, although you may also work with pre-school children or adults. You will interact with patients and families through virtual or face-to-face interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing the SLP treatment plan and conduct treatment sessions based on established therapy goals.
  • Understand treatment objectives and maintain focus on those objectives until the treatment program is modified by the supervising SLP.
  • Develop intervention materials for additional intervention from the supervising SLP as needed.
  • Document treatment sessions by writing progress notes that reflect patient performance and behaviors.
  • Contribute to an exceptional patient experience and team collaboration while maintaining professional relationships and boundaries.
  • Elicit, collect, and record patient response data while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.

Requirements:

  • Secondary courses in linguistics or language development.
  • Post-Graduate Certificate in Communicative Disorders is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of community experience is an asset.
  • Experience with virtual care is an asset.
