The person in this position assesses and controls health and safety hazards and develops strategies to control hazards in the workplace. She/He inspects workplaces to ensure compliance with government standards relating to sanitation systems, pollution control, handling and storage of hazardous substances and workplace safety.

Responsibilities::

  • Inspect workplaces to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not represent any danger to the safety or health of workers or the public;
  • Evaluate compliance with legal health-safety-environment requirements and specify the corrective measures to be taken, if applicable;
  • Respond to requests for any information and ensure compliance with programs and policies from internal and external sources related to health and safety in the workplace;
  • Investigate complaints regarding health and safety, chemical spills, cases of illness or poisoning and workplace accidents;
  • Compile and analyze statistical information on site and produce health-safety-environment reports;

  • Level of education: Certificate in occupational health and safety or relevant experience in this field.
  • Facility to communicate and have a good sense of observation.
  • Have intiative.
  • Valid driving license- Frequent travel
  • Safety officer card on construction sites (asset)
  • Bilingual (asset)
