WestCorp Solutions is seeking candidates for the position of Health & Safety (H&S) Advisor for our client located approximately 150KM South of Fort McMurray, AB. This position operates on a schedule of 12-hour days, 7 days on and 7 days off. The H&S Advisor will provide subject matter expertise and drive the consistent application of policy, standards, and procedures at the field level. This is a contract position; the initial contract will be for 12 months and may be renewed further based on client requirements. Further details will be discussed with candidates selected for client interviews.


Responsibilities:

The H&S Advisor plays a crucial role in advancing the H&S strategy by providing expertise and direction to the business. Responsibilities include supporting client execution teams, coaching on client programs, assisting in strategy implementation, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. Building and maintaining strong team-focused relationships is essential for success in this role.

  • Provide direct support to execution teams regarding OHS Legislation, industry standards, and client H&S program components.
  • Coach on client programs, processes, and standards.
  • Assist in implementing client strategy, aligning goals with organizational priorities.
  • Participate in the review of project-specific safety documents and contractor performance meetings.
  • Ensure H&S planning aligns with client business strategy and growth plans.
  • Coach, influence, motivate, and empower others on H&S ownership.
  • Communicate relevant and timely H&S information to stakeholders.
  • Steward safe performance in line with the client Operational Integrity Management System and related H&S requirements.
  • Assist in building and sustaining a tailored H&S capability platform for field operations.
  • Collaborate to share best practices, lessons learned, and improve knowledge management.
  • Stay updated on emerging H&S issues and legislation, ensuring compliance.


Education and Experience:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, ideally in Major Projects functions, specializing in H2S.
  • OH&S Education such as NSCO, CRSP, or CRST.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Health and Safety management systems.
  • Willingness to gain detailed knowledge of all client H&S standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to make decisions under tight timelines and pressures.
  • Proactive in searching for understanding and finding new solutions.
