Position Summary

Reporting to the CEO, the HR Director will oversee and lead all HR operations, strategies, and initiatives for the 300+ employees. Working closely with the Executive team this role is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing human resources strategies that align with and support the organization's vision and mission. The HR Director is accountable for liaising directly with union representatives, driving talent management, and fostering an engaged workforce.


Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with Metta Lifestyles’ mission and business objectives.
  • Labour Relations: Serve as the main point of contact for all employee relations matters and act a Subject Matter Expert for management team members, offering advice and guidance as needed.
  • Union Relations: Act as the primary liaison with union representatives and stewards, managing contract negotiations, grievance processes, and ensuring compliance.
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture by developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives to drive retention and satisfaction.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead the full recruitment lifecycle, developing and executing strategies to attract and secure top talent.
  • Onboarding & Integration: Coordinate and facilitate onboarding programs for all employees. Oversee new hire integration and monitor employee progress throughout the probationary period to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Payroll Management: Oversee payroll processing and time management using ADP's Workforce Now platform, ensuring accurate tracking, compliance, and timely payments.
  • HR Metrics & Reporting: Regularly track, analyze, and report on key HR metrics, providing insights and recommendations to the leadership team to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the HR function and organizational objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership positions, within a unionized environment required.
  • Previous payroll experience, particularly using ADP’s Workforce Now Platform, strongly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in labor relations, recruitment, and employee engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
