Webuild has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line and we are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Coordinator.


This position is a full-time 100% onsite position at our downtown office.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanical Design Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the design and development of mechanical systems for PNC underground stations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate design efforts of the DJV team during the development and revision of documents to ensure compliance with client specifications and the CJV construction strategy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers, to integrate mechanical designs into overall project plans.
  • Prepare and review mechanical design documents, including specifications, drawings, and calculations.
  • Conduct site assessments to understand the specific requirements and challenges of underground environments.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring designs are completed on schedule and within financial constraints.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies, to communicate design intent and address any concerns.
  • Potential for acting as a technical lead or lead drafter for a defined scope of work
  • Ensure that all designs meet safety standards and best practices for underground operations.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any design-related issues that arise.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.


Qualifications:

  • Proficient in interpreting mechanical contract documents and effectively communicating requirements to project stakeholders.
  • Experienced in developing mechanical work plans and task sheets aligned with project scope and schedule, ensuring timely and successful project execution.
  • Knowledgeable in the design and construction of mechanical systems, with experience liaising effectively with utility companies and contractors.
  • Previous experience in rail projects or transit initiatives, providing valuable insights into mechanical system integration and stakeholder management.
  • Strong attention to detail in mechanical design, capable of coordinating various design elements to support informed, design-driven decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complemented by strong documentation practices to facilitate project clarity and collaboration.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on underground stations or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera P6, MP)
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies is a plus.
