The Role

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to oversee and optimize Botpress’s financial health, reporting, and planning as we grow. This role involves managing our financial processes, ensuring compliance, and providing the financial insights that drive strategic decisions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and ready to partner with executive leadership to ensure Botpress maintains a strong and scalable financial foundation.

As our Financial Controller, you’ll play a key role in developing financial best practices, optimizing our reporting and budgeting, and supporting Botpress's growth through sound financial planning and analysis.


Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure timely, accurate, and comprehensive financial reporting, complying with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop, oversee, and continuously refine our budgeting processes to enable strategic financial planning and resource allocation.
  • Cost Control & Analysis: Analyze financial data and trends, providing insights and recommendations to optimize costs and drive profitability.
  • Audit & Compliance Management: Lead financial audits and manage compliance with regulatory standards to safeguard Botpress’s financial health.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Partner with the executive team to develop and implement strategies that support Botpress’s growth goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with department heads to provide financial guidance and ensure alignment on financial objectives.
  • Process Improvement & Extreme dogfooding: Our goal at Botpress is to automate as much of the operations using our own AI agents, to drive efficiency across all departments. You will be asked to find processes ripe for automation and guide implementation.
  • Closing: Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, financial reporting deliverables, and analytical reviews
  • Internal Controls: Design, implement, and execute efficient internal control procedures


Your Unique Skill Set

  • Financial Expertise: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial management or a similar role, preferably within a SaaS or PaaS environment.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Proven experience managing financial teams and collaborating across functions.
  • Analytical Prowess: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights for executive decision-making.
  • Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in financial systems, ERP software, and Excel; experience with cloud-based financial tools is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to convey financial information clearly to stakeholders across varying levels of financial expertise.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (required); CPA, CFA, or equivalent qualification (preferred).
  • Adaptability: Experience in high-growth environments, with a proactive approach to adapting processes to evolving needs.
  • Accounting Standards Knowledge: Expertise in IFRS, Canada and US GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Results-Oriented: Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results
  • Solution mode: Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices
  • Diligence: Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Language: Fluent in French & English
