As a BIM/CAD Operator, you will utilize Revit and AutoCAD to develop models and prepare drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, and other data. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Assisting and supporting projects in the production and management of BIM and 2D drawings
  • Preparing As-built and Trimble point drawings
  • Updating BIM models and drawings based on As-built layouts
  • Creating and modifying parametric families
  • Preparing detailed drawings and sheets for pre-fabrication
  • Preparing Autodesk Revit drawings from sketches, mark-ups, and electrical system designs
  • Examining drawings to minimize errors and making necessary alterations
  • Checking layouts of electrical and mechanical services for interferences with other building components
  • Collaborating with the project team to implement drafting requirements
  • Maintaining familiarity with current modeling and drafting techniques and contributing to departmental BIM and CAD standards
  • Developing electrical system layouts in coordination with mechanical, structural, and architectural components
  • Setting up Revit views for project team use, including electronic document filing
  • Creating Revit work sets and understanding the Revit work-sharing process
  • Inputting marked-up drawings into Revit and creating minor mark-ups
  • Understanding 3D coordination with other trades



What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Education in architectural design, computer drafting in AutoCAD and Revit, or as an electrical or mechanical technician/technologist
  • 2 years of experience with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Secondary school education (required)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Superior time-management skills to handle multiple projects
  • Fluency in the current version of Revit software used by the department
  • Ability to read 2D plans, both electronically and in hard copy
  • Fluency in Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Design Review, and 3D layout and design
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Bluebeam
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Solid working knowledge of current modeling applications software, including creating and manipulating Revit families, views, browser structure, sheets, schedules, filters, and similar functions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with others
  • Ability to take verbal and written direction and turn it into appropriate design documents
  • Ability to receive and transmit documents on behalf of the design team
  • Fluency with plotters, printers, and reproduction systems used in-house or on the job site
  • Ability to import documents such as spreadsheets, photos, images, and word processing files into Revit projects
