Engineering Manager – Electrical Power Division

Due to growth in the business and creation of defined divisions, they have a newly created role for Engineering Manager for the Electrical Power division.

What you’ll be doing in the role:


  • Lead the Protection & Controls and Automation services division by ensuring accurate results and commissioning services, along with overall service excellence.
  • Review Station Build design packages prior to construction phase and attend design review meetings with customers and Engineering partners.
  • Manage and approve technical reports; P&C, standard substation maintenance, commissioning, IR scanning, and ensure high-level QC.
  • Oversee and manage personnel with the specialty services including transformer testing, switchgear testing, and partnership cable testing with overall commissioning services and support internally.
  • Foster professional development among team members, providing training opportunities and mentoring.
  • Build and develop a broader engineering service; short circuit, arc flash, and overall support for “design-build” projects.
  • Represent the company with consulting engineers, fostering a high-quality and efficient strategy towards pioneering solutions.
  • Allocate resources efficiently, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project needs.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members, assisting in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, controlling costs, and identifying areas for cost-saving measures.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes, seeking efficiency gains and optimizing workflows.


What you bring to the role:


  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. P. Eng in good standing is required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Manager (CM), or other industry-specific certifications are preferred/an asset.
  • A minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in supervisory / leadership within the industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully overseeing complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • A hands-on leadership style and genuine care for the success of projects, the team, and the company.
  • Experience in managing budgets, allocating resources efficiently, and optimizing costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with teams, clients, stakeholders, and present complex technical information clearly.
  • Capacity to develop and execute long-term plans aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, especially in high-pressure situations or when facing complex technical challenges.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites at times is required.
