Overview: The Sr. Financial Analyst, Operations will have the mandate to be the business partner for the Canadian Operations and Finance teams to develop and implement process improvements, to drive efficiencies, and build a best-in-class organization.


Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support operational decision-making, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and analyze warehouse, freight, and manufacturing costs (including raw materials, labour, and overhead), to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Operational Reporting: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and provide regular reporting to management.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of opportunity in processes and implement solutions to improve operational performance and reduce costs.
  • Business Partnering: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and provide regular reporting to management.
  • Inventory and Freight Management: Work with customer service, planning, and sales to analyze inventory strategies to ensure that carrying costs, transfers, and freight are optimized.
  • Capital Analysis:Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and provide financial analysis to support investment decisions in manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, as well as working with accounting to ensure regulatory requirements and internal control practices are being followed.
  • Other Duties:
  • Lead key projects including a third-party freight management implementation.
  • Analysis related to the ongoing financial operations of the organization and telling the story that supports the numbers.
  • Analysis and reporting of manufacturing variances at all locations.
  • Yield Reporting.
  • Manufacturing work order variance analysis, reviewing reported usage, tracking commentary for variances in JDE, and closure through manufacturing accounting GL posting.
  • Direct connection with plant lead hands and supervisors on questions about production reporting requirements.
  • Cross-training with costing team to ensure strong baseline knowledge on commercial bid development.


Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:

  • College diploma or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Preference to a Consumer-Packaged Goods company and/or food & beverage.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and key business partners.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organization and time management skills. Self-starter who works well with limited supervision.
  • Pro-active with customer service and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Superior Excel skills and experience with ERP/ JD Edwards.
  • Experience with Power BI is an asset.
