Overview:

Montreal-based company specializing in the import and distribution of hardware is looking for a Purchasing and Imports Coordinator to join their team. This company prides itself on taking care of its employees and creating a positive environment where people feel valued and empowered.


The Purchasing and Imports Coordinator will report directly to the President and will be responsible for the coordination and management of purchasing operations, primarily focusing on liaising with overseas vendors and managing the logistics of getting the goods across the ocean and to their warehouse.


This is a great role for people seeking work-life balance, as the team doesn't work overtime: no evenings or weekends.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with overseas vendors (primarily in Asia)
  • Coordinate between Sales, Engineering, and Marketing teams and the vendors; ensuring all meetings are booked and information is shared internally.
  • Send requests for quote (RFQs) to suppliers, and relay quotes to VP of Sales and/or President.
  • Update purchase orders in ERP and project management systems, as required.
  • Coordinate between freight forwarders, customs agents, vendors, customers, and warehouse manager.
  • Follow-up and coordinate all paperwork: invoices, packing slips, bills of lading.
  • Track all open purchase orders and shipments. Keep the relevant tracking systems updated. Follow-up on delays.
  • Using a variety of BI platforms refresh, review, and share analysis and reports.


Requirements:

  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work quickly and find ways to improve speed and efficiency of work processes.
  • Experience with international supply chain and logistics.
  • Familiar with all of the following terms: BOL, cargo control number, tariff code, ETD, cargo ready date, commercial invoice, packing list.
  • Strong computer and Excel skills, with ability to learn and use multiple and diverse information technology tools.
  • Experience with of ERP systems


Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Sage 300
  • Experience with BI and reporting platforms
  • Ability to speak Chinese.
