About the opportunity:

Business Unit Commercial Management Control Manager, Cheese and Tablspreads - works closely with Commercial & Marketing Leadership Team to increase a company’s efficiency and profitability by assisting with the development of both medium and long-term financial goals.

The incumbent will provide financial consulting and strategic support to Commercial and Marketing leadership team of Cheese & Tablespreads Business Unit including preparing executive level financial presentations, , new business opportunities and acquisition analysis.

The role requires the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, extreme attention to detail, and consistently accurate, high quality financial analyses.

The Retail Cheese and Tablespreads business unit is proud to be the leading cheese and butter business in Canada with iconic brands like Cracker Barrel, Black Diamond, Balderson, P’tit Quebec, Cheestrings, aMOOza, Galbani, President, Lactantia and Beatrice.




The attributes we are looking for:

  • Key finance support to the Cheese and Tablespreads Commercial and Marketing leadership team
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual business cycle
  • Lead the preparation of the monthly financial reporting with variance analyses and the presentation of the business results with the Cheese and Tablespreads leadership team
  • Identify risks and opportunities to budget/forecast and execute identified action plans
  • Provide the consolidated financial analyses for Cheese Business Unit by identifying the area of improvement, cross divisional synergies and revenue, profitability growth
  • Monitor commercial performance indicators (KPIs), highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance.
  • Provide support to Sales and Marketing teams by conducting financial and business evaluation on new product launches, new business negotiations and other major business initiatives
  • Partner with the Trade Marketing team to effectively manage trade spend, develop pricing strategies, conduct financial analyses for new trade promotions and corporate trade contracts
  • Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in marketing programs, pricing strategy, capex initiatives.
  • Reviewing existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvement efforts and optimize the allocation of the resources
  • Implement and work with a Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboard reports
  • Manage and provide training of three direct reports
  • Ensure compliance group rules and policies
  • Develop and deliver training for successful adoption of budgeting, forecasting, reporting / analysis processes and systems to sales and marketing leadership team
  • Knowledge of Revenue management tools, techniques and analysis - an asset




What you will bring:

MBA or bachelor’s degree in Finance

Minimum 8 years of FPA experience with 3 years on manager position or equivalent

CPA / Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) is an asset

Good at managing internal and external stakeholders

Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills

Advanced Excel, Financial Modelling, Power Query, Power BI and PowerPoint

High attention to detail

Ability to solve complex problems

High level of operational acumen

Knowledge of the dairy industry

Proficient with SAP BW environment is an asset

Managed direct reports

Leadership capability, including ability to motivate and mentor the direct reports, lead initiatives that could involve cross-functional teams, and develop rapport with all levels of the organization
