We currently have an opening in our
Burlington, Ontario office for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our team in the role of.


With a primary focus on operations at our Burlington location, the is responsible for the facilitation of safety related training with research, development, and implementation of safety programs, policies, procedures, and standards.

In addition to being the primary point of contact for workplace health & safety, this role will also support the recruitment and onboarding of our production employees and work closely with our production supervisors and HR.

Your Impact

  • Interact with local supervisors and local plant management to monitor safety compliance and identity safety issues/concerns.
  • Report concerns, OH&S revisions, and initiatives affecting the workplace in the areas of safety awareness, training, and legislative changes to management.
  • Ensure SDS (Safety Data Sheets) are complete and up to date.
  • Assist in the auditing of operations to eliminate hazardous activities.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and work practices, document findings and followup on corrective actions.
  • Acts as the point person for employees to report health & safety concerns to and bring concerns to the attention of management.
  • Identify and eliminate health & safety hazards by designing a safety work system in accordance with established standards under local legislation/regulations.
  • Create and update workplace safety policies alongside the AGM, VP of Manufacturing Operations, and HR.
  • Lead accident investigations and near miss events.
  • Analyze incident reports to determine causes and preventative measures; report findings and recommend changes to prevent recurrence.
  • Complete and submit WSIB Forms for workplace illness/injury.
  • Manage WSIB claims and alongside local plant management and HR, coordinate return to work (RTW) programs.
  • Chair the local JHSC meetings, including agenda preparation.
  • Oversight of Company bulletin boards ensuring all required posters/communication are posted and current as set forth by provincial legislation.
  • Plan and organize Health & Safety Week (annually) and all other health & safety events.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly and yearly safety related incident reports with statistics to management.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of Health & Safety week.
  • Distribute and maintain inventory of PPE as required for all positions.
Training

  • Develop and maintain Health & Safety training material and calendar(s) to ensure all required training is being kept up to date (First Aid, WHMIS, etc.)
  • Facilitate safety orientation and new employee onboarding.
  • Assist the General Foreman in recruitment, conducting phone screening and arranging in person interviews.
  • Arrange employee milestone meetings for production supervisors to ensure key dates are being met (weekly/monthly checkins).
  • Educate employees on emergency procedures, use of safety equipment, and accident prevention.
  • Deliver toolbox talks monthly to production employees.
  • Maintain records of training sessions and certifications.
  • Facilitate ongoing training required for employees and ensure training matrixes are valid and up to date. This will include both recommended training and compliancebased training.
  • Facilitate required employee testing (i.e., respiratory, hearing, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Experience

  • Possess a high level of commitment to health & safety in the workplace at all times.
  • CPR/First Aid/Blood Bourne Pathogens/AED Certified or willingness to become certified.
  • JHSC certified or willing to become certified.
  • Bachelor's degree, or College diploma with a focus on Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a relat
