About Us:


The Court and Justice Services (CJS) Branch provides a wide range of resolution and court services for people involved in legal disputes.

In collaboration with the courts of Alberta, Court and Justice Services provides various programs and services including educating and helping Albertans finding solutions for legal issues, navigating the court system, offering programs at no cost or a nominal charge, and administrative support to all courts in Alberta.


Role:


As a Program Advisor, you will support the Assessment Services program in Resolution Services in promoting and ensuring quality of the provision of services across the province.

You will play a key role in the ongoing quality improvement process of the program, including system reporting, service reviews, issue analysis, and program development.

You will be supporting program areas with coordination of digital system maintenance and staff training. You will also lead special projects and initiatives that set practice and program direction.

Your key areas of responsibility include but not limited to:

  • Maintenance and/or revision of Assessment Services practices and procedures by ensuring that they reflect new trends, directions and best practices to incorporate service quality dimensions.
  • Development of program supports identify front line worker issues and service gaps and develop processes to meet needs and bridge service gaps. Prepare procedures and protocols to deal with new or changing needs.
  • Consultation to frontline staff, supervisors, managers and the community on policy interpretation, service delivery issues and complex cases.
  • Develop evidencebased policies, policy responses and initiatives.
  • Research evidencebased practice, analyse and make recommendations regarding practice issues and/or systemic issues.
  • Extensive consultation and liaison with a variety of professionals both within and outside the Ministry and Government.
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team and service delivery staff to foster communication and collaboration across programs.
  • Raise awareness to emerging issues that are particularly complex, politically charged, or could have significant program impacts.
  • Support program planning & reporting.
  • Evaluate and measure program outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver training.

Knowledge and abilities required are:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the government and ministry and division priorities and business plan goals, policies, and protocols.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of family violence, child protection, and safety planning and related risk factors in mediation processes and court settings to influence strategic decisions related to program and service planning and delivery.
  • Knowledge of child development and attachment theory as it relates to separation and divorce and the impacts to children to influence strategic decisions related to program and service planning and delivery.

Qualifications:

Required

  • University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience.
  • Valid Alberta driver's license.

Equivalency:

Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience;
    OR:
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Preference will be give based on following:

  • Experiences in program development or delivery.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel for variance reporting.
  • Experiences in developing and delivering training as well as making presentations to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience and/or education in Project Management and Change Management.
  • Knowledge of Related legislation (e.g. Youth Criminal Justice Act, Civil Enforcement Act, Divorce Act, Family Law Act, Child Youth and Family Enhancement Act, Protection Against Family Violence Act, Provincial Court Act and Regulations, Rules of Court, Child Support Guidelines, Drug Endangered Children's Act, Protection of Children against Drug Abuse Act, Protection Against Sexually Exploited Children Act, the Mental Health Act).
