Family Wellness Facilitator

The Candora Society of Edmonton is currently seeking a community oriented, motivated, collaborative person for a permanent, part-time 12 month maternity leave (.6 FTE) Family Wellness Facilitator (FWF).

The FWF will initiate programming that supports a collaborative, holistic approach to wellness, stress reduction, parent education and support for families with children between years of age.


Reporting to the Family & Community Resource Manager, the Family Wellness Facilitator will coordinate, plan and facilitate formal evidence-based, and informal parent education programs aimed at families living in the communities of NE Edmonton.

The FWF will work collaboratively with various community partners along with Candora Family and Community Resource Workers (FCRW) to meet the goals and objectives of the Society and enhance Candora's wrap-around service delivery model.

This is a part-time position 12-month maternity leave (21 hours/week) dependant on funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate evidencebased parent education programs including: Nobody's Perfect and Triple P, Circle of Security Parenting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external community partners to develop informal, relevant, and responsive programming for families and children (012 years) using the 40 Developmental Assets and Circle of Security frameworks.
  • Ensure program development aligns with Candora's philosophy, values and goals while adhering to the Family Resource Network expectations, outcomes, and standards of practice.
  • Work collaboratively with FCRW team to coordinate the delivery of individual and family support work, community outreach, and community connecting events.
  • Engage in comprehensive interviews and registration procedures with program participants.
  • Work with individuals and families in the delivery of direct one on one complex case support.
  • Work to ensure that programs and one on one support practices align with best practices around diversity and inclusion.
  • Assist in coordinating Candora's response in supporting participants who are experiencing urgent or complex crises.
  • Work with participants, partner agencies and systems, community members and systems to facilitate access to resources needed to support participants and community members.
  • Assist in coordination of the collection and maintenance of accurate records of participants.
  • Assists with report writing, program evaluation documentation of outputs and outcomes.
  • Engage in ongoing formal and informal learning and training opportunities as required.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

  • Degree or diploma in related human services field, or equivalent combination of education and experience in community development or social work.
  • Strong child development background (preference will be given to those who have or who are obtaining a Child Development Worker Certificate formerly level 2).
  • Preference may be given to applicants with Nobody's Perfect, Triple P, Circle of Security, and 40 Developmental Assets training.
  • Clear Child and Youth Intervention Check, Criminal Record Check, and Driver's Abstract, and access to a vehicle.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills and experience.
  • Extensive understanding and/or experience in developing creative and culturally relevant programming aimed at families with children 013 years of age.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and intercultural experience in working with people of different cultural backgrounds, high needs, and marginalized populations.
  • Orientation towards flexible, relationship based, reflective practice skills and a strong commitment to community development.
  • Strong crisis intervention and individual and family support work experience.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of traumainformed practice.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Commitment to the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of the Candora Society.
  • Clear understanding of professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent computer skills.
