OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their team. The selected candidate will collaborate with Vertex offices across Canada, focusing on executing geotechnical engineering projects within the country.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering. Candidates with less than 5 years of experience are also welcome to apply.
  • P.Eng. designation in good standing with PEO.
  • Proficiency in using software for slope stability assessments.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft products.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide technical support for various projects including pipeline and linear infrastructure developments. This involves assessments for roads, pipelines, powerlines, telecommunication towers, foundation designs, oilsands operations, and more.
  • Support projects focusing on pipeline integrity with expertise in interpreting aerial photographs, satellite imagery, and LiDAR data.
  • Conduct engineering assessments for slope instability, landslide susceptibility, risk analysis, and more.
  • Make recommendations for geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring.
  • Coordinate with drillers and labs, mentor junior engineers, and conduct field investigations.
  • Review lab results, write technical reports, collaborate with teams, and assist in proposals and cost estimates.
  • Participate in developing the client base and business growth.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
LOCATION

The position will be in Southwestern Ontario with potential for other locations. A hybrid work schedule is available.
