As a member of the Intercollegiate Leadership Team, the Intercollegiate Coordinator contributes to the overall management and operations of the Department of Athletics.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Intercollegiate Programs, the Administrative and Sport Camps Assistant plays a crucial role in the administration of the entire Intercollegiate Athletics Program. They are responsible for a large portfolio that is integral to the successful functioning of the Intercollegiate Program.

The incumbent is responsible for providing oversight, management, leadership and guidance to the Varsity Soccer, Swimming, Wrestling teams and the OUA Varsity Baseball, Badminton, Curling, Field Hockey, Figure Skating, Golf, Fencing, Lacrosse, Nordic, Rowing, Squash, supporting and servicing approximately varsity student-athletes. The Coordinator, Sport and Camps has relative autonomy for and will manage and oversee multiple facets of varsity program including, administration, student athlete health and safety, risk management and compliance operations, including student athlete registration, compliance to sport governing bodies, adherence to internal and external policies and procedures, support of intercollegiate business activities including but not limited to team budget management and fundraising, scheduling, facility booking, sport information and they will support annual student athlete and coach education, training and program evaluation. The Coordinator, Sport and Camps is responsible for coordinating the hosting of varsity events and championships when required. They are the primary point of contact with external sport governing bodies which are involved in the delivery and programming of varsity sports. The Coordinator, Sport and Camps is responsible to ensure all varsity team participants and stakeholders are following Safe Sport practices as outlined in the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) and other applicable Codes of Conduct (OUA, Student Athlete, Coach and Volunteer).

The Administrative and Sport Camps Assistant will provide leadership, management, and support the delivery of the Gryphon Sport Camps and Skill Development Clinic programs that run throughout the year with a focus in the months of July and August. Gryphon Sport Camps and Skill Development Clinics provide a breadth of engaging sport specific development programming for children and youth which supports a healthy physical lifestyle and provides best in class technical skill development in their chosen sport. Managing the full-time coaches who deliver the technical programming of sport camps and skill development clinics, they are responsible for the planning, programming, administration, mitigation of risk and liability and ensuring annual revenue targets are met by leading the hiring, training, and supervision (along with coaches) of part time employees. They are responsible for monitoring registration, establishing program best practices, ensuring compliance with department and industry (camp) policies and procedures, and making sound financial decisions regarding all sport camps and skill development clinics. They will liaise and collaborate with the department's Active Kids Coordinator and Supervisor of Aquatics and Active Kids Programs on the delivery of these programs, community education and the marketing.

The Administrative and Sport Camps Assistant is responsible for external and internal facility scheduling for all Intercollegiate Program non-conference, league, playoff and championship competitions, including all OUA and U Sports league, exhibition, training camp, and practice scheduling, requiring the incumbent to liaise with varsity coaches, Athletics Facility staff, external organizational staff (i.e. City of Guelph) and sport governing body staff (i.e. OUA and U Sports).

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

3 year college program in Sports Administration, Kinesiology, Business Administration or related program along with minimum 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A graduate degree is considered a strong asset; Experience working in a provincial, national or university sport organization Excellent leadership skills and demonstrated experience successfully leading and developing high performing teams and programs; Strong organizational skills; Student athlete centered philosophy; Works well within a dynamic and demanding environment; Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications; Strong communication, listening, problem solving and conflict resolution skills; Ability to work independently and effectively to meet established deadlines.

This is a demanding position that requires attendance at frequent evening and weekend events to fulfill program requirements.
