About the Role:


Global News Toronto has an immediate one-year contract position open for an Affiliate Coordinator for Network Resource based out of Toronto.

Reporting to the Director of Network Resources, this position involves a variety of shifts including working evening and weekend shifts.

This is a Group 2 position in the current collective agreement.

You'll be working on things like:
The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions, but does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position:

  • Coordinate the movement of content between stations, digital and other divisions of Global News and Corus;
  • Help facilitate and coordinate double enders for affiliate TV & radio stations as well as over the top platform
  • Basic editing of material for multiple platforms
  • Coordinate distribution of live events using internal fibre lines and mobile technology (Dejero) for Global News Affiliates and Online;
  • Coordinate Network Pool Feeds;
  • Knowledge of FTP, satellite and fibre bookings and ability to work with multiple file types;
  • Perform other duties as required
If you have the want to hear from you

  • Postsecondary education in broadcast journalism or related field.
  • Experience working in feed centre or resource desk with a multiplatform workflow.
  • Strong technical skills with knowledge and experience in ingest, feed coordination including file transfers and editing.
  • Editing skills and familiarity with Grass Valley
  • Knowledge of Open Media considered an asset
  • Diverse background in national news considered an asset.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and perform in a highpressure, deadlineoriented environment.
  • Capable of working with tight deadlines while using sound judgment on news decisions.
  • Proven leadership, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and team player.
