About the position:

Reporting to the Director, Health Protection, the incumbent will be responsible for the planning and operationalizing of programs and services to meet the Ontario Public Health Standards in the areas of Vaccine Preventable Diseases, and Sexual Health.

They will provide leadership with policy development, and co-ordination and collaboration with external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use relevant community data to plan and evaluate programs and services, with an understanding of the Evidence-Informed Decision Making (EIDM) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes.
  • Responsible for development of operational plans, deliverables, reporting mechanisms, and program budget.
  • Manages, motivates, and trains BCHU staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.
  • Leads highperforming teams and supports a healthy work environment for staff.
  • Ensures compliance with BCHU policies and all legislative requirements.
  • Ensures continuous quality improvement at program level and supports organisation wide quality improvements.
  • Builds and strengthens positive relationships across the organization and with external partners/agencies.
  • Develops and implements detailed plans and recommends policies regarding program specific requirements.
  • Manages the daytoday operation of their multidisciplinary teams including the scheduling, assigning, and reviewing of work.
  • Promotes positive work environments by role modelling professional behaviour, promoting teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration, addressing workplace conflict, and effectively managing change initiatives.
  • Required to be part of the manager oncall rotation for afterhours/weekends.

Qualifications:

  • BScN including preparation in public health nursing.
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses, in good standing.
  • Minimum five (5) years' workrelated supervisory/management experience in a unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of both education and experience.
  • Master's degree in a related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in public health with working knowledge of applicable Public Health Standards and relevant protocol, policies, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical services, preferably in sexual health and immunizations.
  • Management skills including knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles and practices and relevant employment legislation is an asset.
  • Ability to influence others and establish credibility with all levels of the organization and be a catalyst for positive change.
  • Effective critical thinking, analytical decision making, problemresolution skills and the ability to distil complex information into clear, concise messages.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and demands in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability and willingness to go above and beyond to support the needs of the organization (ex. oncall hours).
  • Leadership skills including customer focused, ensuring accountability, fostering collaborative relationships, cultivating engagement to drive vision and purpose, and establishing and maintaining trust.

  • Required to have full COVID19 immunization and are able to provide evidence of status.

Salary range:
$108,563.00 to $127,036.00 annually. You will be eligible to opt in to OMERS pension and a comprehensive Health and Dental benefits package. Please note that some weekends and after-hours commitments will be required for this role.
