  • JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus includes the stateofart Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, featuring a new Emergency Department, 172 acute inpatient beds, 9 new Operating Rooms and postanaesthetic care unit to support expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services.   • Reporting to the Manager of Finance
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide financial operations and volume planning support for various Administrative, Corporate Services, and Clinical Programs
  • Preparation of operating budgets in collaboration with program leadership, incorporating:
  • Peer Hospital benchmarking activities
  • Volume & Activity Analysis, Forecasting based on Demographics and Business Proposals
  • Review of actual versus expected costs align to funded performance, maximizing quality and efficiency of patient services
  • Variance analysis, on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis for supported Programs performance
  • Evaluate the reasonableness of financial and statistical data; provide recommendations for changes to processes and procedures to enhance reporting and efficiency
  • Work with Case Costing lead to ensure Programs supported have accurate data that can be leveraged for Program development
  • Assist Senior Business Advisors with program support and analysis for various projects, financial/statistical reporting, and onboarding
  • Assist Senior Decision Support Analysts with Wait Times reporting, Ministry reporting, and COVID ad hoc reporting
  • Provide clients/managers with a single source for interpretation of financial, statistical and business information
  • Maintain and improve Department Systems (Budgeting, Monthly Reports/Dashboards, & Future Projects)
  • Provide support to the Program teams and clinicians on the interpretation of data, and functionality of decision support tools
  • Maintain Finance, business intelligence, and other decision support tools and systems to deliver required information (e.g. assumptions, proposals), measure and evaluate progress.
  • Complete reporting in collaboration with the Finance Department Team/Leadership for both Internal (Programs) and External (MOH/LHIN) to ensure external data submissions and reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner
  • Identify performance issues, undertaking a rootcause analysis and developing remedial actions with target dates
  • Provide ad hoc support for projects, leadership requests, and COVID initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Analytics or Information is required
  • MBA, CPA, CHIM, or relevant Master's relating to Healthcare an asset
  • Minimum Two (2) to three (3) years of similar financial and activity analysis experience required with proven strong financial planning, analytical, and problem solving skill sets
  • A selfstarter with the ability to handle multiple job responsibilities, set priorities, problem solve and work with all levels of staff while appreciating the responsibility of meeting tight and conflicting deadlines
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Excel (Advanced), Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint required.
  • Experience with Budgeting, Business Development, Activity Forecasting
  • Ability to learn new Programs and Software for Budgeting, Case Costing, Volume Planning an asset
  • Proficiency with taking data analysis and providing viable options and proposals for stakeholders to make data supported decisions
  • Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) and MIS, PSAS, and IFRS an asset
  • Previous experience with Wait Times, Cancer Care Ontario, CIHI acute and postacute databases (DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, NRS, CCRS), Integrated Decision Support (IDS), IntelliHealth as asset
  • Experience with Meditech and Business Intelligence Tools preferred
