About us


At HWS, we use a gender based analysis (GBA+), trauma and violence informed framework to deliver prevention, education and crisis support services to women and their families who have been impacted by gender based violence (GBV) in rural Huron County.

Our services include a 24-hour helpline and emergency shelter, risk assessment and safety planning, advocacy, system navigation, individual and group healing opportunities, and community development.

We are seeking an experienced, visionary leader as our next
Program Manager to join our team. This is a full time, continuing role.


Using a GBA+, trauma and violence informed framework, the Program Manager is accountable to manage effective functioning of residential and outreach programs, for the provision of a safe, supportive, and healing environment for women and families impacted by GBV.


Using a GBA+, trauma-informed framework, the Program Manager:

  • Is accountable for ensuring the management and smooth functioning of residential service (shelter and second stage) operations and provision of a safe and supportive environment for women and families impacted by violence.
  • Is accountable for oversight and management of community outreach programs (Family Court Support, Transition, Outreach Counselling, Sexual Assault Counselling and Child & Youth services)
  • Supports reporting staff who work with women and children to coactively develop a care plan that is central to their experience at HWS. The care plan is fluid and evolving, addressing unique needs in crisis, prioritizing risk assessment and safety planning, progressing through her healing journey to support her growth and development towards a healthy and fulfilling life.

Your duties and responsibilities will include (this is not an exhaustive list)


Support the Advocate team in case planning, ensuring quality assurance processes are aligned with competence in risk assessment, safety planning, system navigation, advocacy and/or healing modalities using a GBA+, co-active and trauma informed approach.


Work with the program teams to ensure appropriate documentation processes are in place and followed, allowing for service to Women to be efficient and effectively provided.

Actively supports reporting staff through management, supervision, direction, training, coaching and development. Provides feedback on performance, including completing performance assessments. Partners with staff in the planning and generation of learning and development plans.


Completes quality assurance, audits files, providing feedback, and modifies processes and procedures to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.

Oversees, maintains, trains, and provides input on standards for the recording and storing of information specific to client files. Implement effective evaluation and reporting tools.


Ensures that new staff reporting to the position are provided appropriate orientation and onboarding supporting their success in the role.

Responsible for the full cycle recruitment and selection staff reporting to the role. Works with the Executive Administrator in the recruitment and selection process.

Coordinates and leads various staff, team and program specific meetings, including the relief and all team meetings.


Contributes as a member of the leadership team, providing input into the development of strategic plans, initiatives, budgets, and goals.


Maintains and approves staffing schedule for community outreach & residential services (ensuring appropriate 24/7 coverage is in place for shelter).

Supports the Senior Manager in the generation and compilation of reports to be provided to Ministry and funders. Provides statistical reports to the Senior Manager including recommendations from an initial review and analysis.

Supports the implementation of Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services shelter standards.

Makes recommendations of modifications and maintenance requirements for facilities to the Senior Manager.


Acts as an administrator for the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Women In Safe Housing (WISH) systems, and as an expert in the Women In Safe Housing (WISH) system, provides training and support to all staff within the organization.

Ensures the continued implementation, evolution, and provides necessary support of the WISH system.

Participate and lead committee meetings as assigned.

Acts as a Women & Family Advocate in back-up capacity, as required.

Other duties as assigned.

This position will require the incumbent to work at our administration office, located at 376 Huron Road, Goderich, Ontario

Hours


The hours for this position are 35 hours per week and part of the On-Call rotation, and may be required to work variable day, evening, night and/or weekend hours to support program needs.
