Background:

The Ma Mawi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. is seeking an individual for the youth mentor position for the residence for young males ages 11-14 yrs. old. The site is a six
- bed facility that will operate 24 hours 7days a week and offer a range of assessment and support services. Luke's Place will be a safe and nurturing environment where the young men will have the opportunity to experience a strong sense of caring, support and encouragement while building the capacity to achieve their goals and dreams.

Qualifications:

  • Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience
  • Residential Care experience would be an asset.
  • Supporting Caseload and healing plans and implementing with the adolescent males.
  • Provides support/supervision to the residents.
  • Program development and facilitation skills.
  • Needs to have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of the Child Welfare Legislation and standards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of aboriginal values and community issues.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Must provide Police and Child Abuse checks.
  • MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE Class 5
