Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor

Overall Responsibilities

  • Provide clear leadership and guidance by offering comprehensive training and effective communication to operations personnel in order to meet established timelines
  • Supervise the manufacturing and packaging processes of products while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices

Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure operations are both safe and efficient
  • Supervise unionized hourly staff across various shifts
  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety within the workplace
  • Lead daily meetings involving both hourly and salary teams
  • Assign daily tasks to employees and plan production schedules
  • Provide training to employees on safety, equipment usage, SOPs, GMP requirements, and company policies
  • Inspect machinery for cleanliness and safety, ensuring proper setup before production
  • Monitor housekeeping and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve common objectives
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and work with Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Develop and implement coaching/counseling and disciplinary actions
  • Maintain accurate Standard Operating Procedures and One Point Lessons
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and compliance standards
  • Oversee material inventories and shipping documentation

Compliance with the company's Health & Safety Policies and SOP's is paramount, including strict adherence to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure.

  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas within Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. facilities
  • Regular review of hourly payroll, attendance policies, and time off requests
  • Participation in assigned special projects
  • Weekly review of consumables and timely reorder when necessary

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements

  • Educational background in a relevant field, complemented by professional development in operations management and supervisory skills
  • Several years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Understanding of employee safety regulations in a production environment
  • Proficiency in SOP development and GMP compliance within a production setting
  • Ability to organize and maintain a safe working environment while directing others
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Comfortable with various computer applications
  • Adaptable and driven towards continuous improvement
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends when needed
