Job Summary

The Web Project Manager manages the entire lifecycle of a small project or phases of a larger project which includes developing a project plan, coordinating the activities of a project team, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of the project

Specific Duties:

  • Manages several web projects simultaneously
  • Conducts needsanalysis meetings with clients, prepares documentation, and identifies possible solutions to client needs
  • Develops project estimate, scope, schedule and documentation based on project requirements
  • Manages project status, confirm project completion meet requirements and are completed on time and on budget
  • Allocates resources to projects according to project plans and resource availability;
  • According to approved plans, makes necessary contacts, obtains signatures and authorizations for necessary forms, and notifies necessary units within UBC
  • Ensures project billing requirements are completed
  • Provides process improvements and documentation
  • Stays current with web technology and web industry developments

Core Duties:

  • Initiates projects following appropriate project management methodology including
- gathering and defining project requirements, developing project charters, project plans, budgets and schedules, identifying staffing requirements, and forming project teams

  • Follows project management methods, procedures and quality objectives, and tracks metrics for assessing progress
  • Provides work direction and leadership to the assigned project team, including scheduling,
- assignment of work, review of project efforts and removal of roadblocks that may inhibit project success

  • Assesses variances from the project plans, budgets and schedules, develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within specified scope and is within time, cost, and quality objectives, and keeps management aware of the situation
  • Conducts formal review with the business sponsor at project completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction
  • Identifies and recommends potential improvements in current methodologies;
  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors, and key clients
  • Maintains appropriate professional designations and uptodate knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools
  • Performs other related duties as required

The Web Project Manager role requires judgment and initiative Errors in judgment could have a

significant impact on the success of project delivery, funding, and revenue.

Supervision Received

Works independently under the general direction of the Manager, Web Services.

Supervision Given

This position is responsible for explaining procedures/processes to project team members and stakeholders. Provides direction and guidance to IT technical teams to make sure the project is completed on time. Monitors progress of projects as assigned and coordinates activities to ensure that deadlines are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Project management Professional (PMP) certified or other equivalent project management certificates are an asset.
