Job Number:49887**As an Event and Attractions Host, you will work at City of Edmonton attractions and recreation facilities in all areas of the city to provide superior customer service for a variety of events ranging from small intimate to in excess of 1,000+ guests. Events may include the service of alcohol. Types of events will vary and may be cultural events, funerals, weddings, meetings, etc.
Your ability to approach situations in a professional, calm and diplomatic manner will allow for well-managed and enjoyable events for patrons in attendance.
If you enjoy working with the public and working on your feet, this may be the opportunity for you Event and Attractions Hosts must be reliable, and may be required to work alone in stand alone facilities as well as with a team.
You will be responsible to:
- Utilize your highly developed oral communication skills to provide information to facility patrons
- Provide detailed information about City of Edmonton facilities and services
- Control admission to various areas of the facility
- Use standard office equipment, computers and twoway radios
- Act upon all comments and complaints in a prompt, friendly manner
- Provide minor first aid when needed
- Facilitate a safe, fun and appropriate use of facility
- Assist with setup and takedown of tables and chairs if required
- Assist with cleanup including washroom facilities and emptying of garbage
- Be familiar with various aspects of the facility including operations and disarming and arming facilities after events
- Event shifts can range from 3 hours to 10 hours per day
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 with an emphasis on general office practices, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved school/college
- Must be available to work all shifts, including evenings, late nights and weekends
- Must possess a valid Class 5 License and have reliable transportation since some facilities are in remote areas that do not have public transportation access
- Experience working as an event host or similar customer service role
- Possession of current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification is required prior to commencement of employment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide accurate information in a confident, professional and personable manner
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
