Reporting to: Manager, Provincial Resource Centre - Tissue
Job Title: Tissue Coordinator
Location: Toronto (combination of in-person and remote work)
Schedule: Mix of weekday and weekend shifts lasting 12 hours each
About the Role: Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN), a part of Ontario Health, oversees organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the region. We focus on raising awareness about donation, educating healthcare professionals, and ensuring a safe donation system. Collaboration, growth, honesty, trust, respect, and compassion are at the core of our operations.
We are currently looking for a dedicated full-time Tissue Coordinator to join our team. The individual will play a key role in facilitating tissue donation processes in alignment with TGLN's mission and values. Responsibilities include donor screening, obtaining consent for donation, coordinating recovery activities, and conducting follow-ups with families.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary assessments of patients for donation eligibility
- Offer expert consultation on tissue donation
- Provide necessary information to tissue banks while maintaining confidentiality
- Complete required documentation promptly
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals for risk assessment and evaluation
- Coordinate with relevant parties for tissue recovery procedures
- Ensure timely communication and coordination throughout the donation process
- Maintain professionalism and empathy in all interactions
- Perform additional duties as needed
Requirements:
- University degree or college diploma in health or biological sciences
- Certification in eye or tissue banking is a plus
- Minimum of three years of experience in organ and tissue donation
- Healthcare background or crisis management experience preferred
Qualifications:
- Self-motivated with strong teamwork skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of biological sciences and quality assurance standards
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Detail-oriented with good time management skills
- Proficient in computer use
Compensation: $31.86 to $39.82 per hour
Employment Type: Full-time permanent position
Location: Toronto, Ontario (combination of in-person and remote work)
