Job Summary


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead the coordination and management of this interdisciplinary, international, and trans-sectoral project.

The Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the project's success by overseeing its operational, financial, and administrative functions, facilitating collaboration among international teams, and ensuring the project's objectives are met on time and within budget.


The ideal applicant will possess a passion for climate justice, experience in project management and/or movement building, a talent for independent and team-based work with attention to detail.

Organizational Status


This position is housed at the Centre for Climate Justice with general support from its staff, and reports to the lead Investigators, Drs.

Liv Yoon and Mohammed Rafi Arefin. The position may provide occasional training and supervision to student research assistants when necessary, with support from project co-investigators.

Work Performed:

  • Work closely with Drs. Liv Yoon and Mohammed Rafi Arefin in coordinating research activities across all three project cities (Vancouver, Barcelona, New York) with a focus on Vancouver.
  • Oversee the daytoday operations of the project, ensuring effective coordination and communication among project team members across different geographic locations.
  • Collaborates actively with community partners within Vancouver and team members across all three project cities to monitor project progress, provide updates, and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, to ensure the project's objectives are achieved.
  • Manage the project budget, including tracking expenses, forecasting future costs, and ensuring financial reporting requirements are met.
  • Facilitate communication between the project teams, various committees, community partners, and stakeholders, including preparing progress reports, and serving as the main point of contact for project inquiries.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and lead meetings and phone/video conferences independently and with team members.
  • Presents results to collaborators and the broader academic, advocacy and partner communities.
  • Contributes to ongoing strategic planning and analysis needs of the project; works with lead investigators to identify relevant funding opportunities as necessary; develops ideas into grant proposals.
  • Work with designated EDI champions in each city, the EDI committee, and conduct regular surveys and interviews of team members to monitor and measure effectiveness of EDIrelated efforts.
  • Contributes to writing academic manuscripts as well as media and stakeholder reports.
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements, institutional policies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of project findings through workshops, conferences, and publications.
  • Coordinates priorities, needs, and input from community partners.
  • Chairs local and international meetings across sites and stakeholders.
  • Support the project team in stakeholder engagement, data collection, and analysis activities, as needed.
  • Prepare annual progress reports.
  • Perform other administrative and related duties in the project.
Consequence of Error/Judgement

The incumbent will make important decisions affecting the progress of the project.

Poor judgment could result in compromises to community partnerships, loss of data, and delay in conducting research, which could impact collaborations, publications, and future funding.
