Quality Control Technician

We are currently expanding our team and hiring for a second shift in our Seasoning department
As a member of our Q.C.

team, you would be responsible to ensure that in a timely fashion, all finished goods produced by Seasoning comply with our internal quality standards and the customers' requirements and standards.


In order to accomplish this, on-line QC measurements, close observation of the manufacturing process and some organoleptic evaluations of raw materials and finished goods need to be performed.

To be successful you must have effective communication with staff in production, maintenance, shipping, customer service and the rest of the Q.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts ongoing lab tests on raw materials following company and corporate QC procedures.
  • Conducts tests on intermediates and finished product following company and corporate QC procedures, as required
  • Accurate record keeping, filing, problem solving, maintenance of laboratory and equipment
- clean, sort, and arrange lab to maintain a clean, organized environment
- ensure that lab is equipped with needed supplies
- alert management of unusual needs, or other observations
- require Certificate of Analysis from vendors in a timely manner

  • Retain samples, as per corporate requirements, file and maintain samples
  • Check if the production people follow good manufacturing practices and comply with company personal hygiene requirements
  • Be very observant of any kind of activity on the production line that may compromise product quality; share any concern immediately with production
  • Stop production at any moment when repeated nonconformance occurs, due to mechanical failure, human error, etc.; ensure that nonconforming product will not reach the customer by placing "Hold" stickers on the rejected product and following our Hold Procedure
  • Complete ingredient checks as requested by production
  • Maintain and follow up on the maintenance and repair of Lab scales and other lab equipment
  • Completing and filing Q.C. Records, Raw Materials Inspection Sheets, as mentioned above
  • Participate in Customer Complaint investigations, Recall, Mock Recall, Third Party audit preparations, when required
  • Document all the incidents and nonconformance on Variance reports, distribute internally to production, purchasing, and management
  • Ensure Finished Products are QC released before shipping. Have continuous communication with Warehouse staff to provide information
  • Perform specific quality control checks on raw materials, such as gel strengths and granulation checks, as per company protocols
  • Work on Rework Procedures, set up
  • Sample and prepare Finished Product and Raw Materials samples and timely send to outside contractors laboratory for micro and chemical testing as per customer and company requirement; review results and communicate to management actions that are required
  • Provide assistance to other lab staff, as required
  • Maintain clean lab environment involving daily cleaning of bench top surfaces, storage area, equipment, utensils, and dishes
  • Participate in Health & Safety Training, be responsible for own safety by complying with company policy
  • Comply with NWF personal hygiene requirements
  • Continuously upgrade the computer skills, technical innovations related to the job
  • Any and all other responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or related field
  • Able to work independently and as a group member with mínimal supervision
  • Good communication skills; both oral and written
  • Analytical skills; computer skills
  • Must have good understanding of English to be able to communicate effectively in a team environment.
  • Previous Q.C. experience and food packaging process knowledge is an asset.
  • Must not have any restrictions, such as food allergies, or restrictions, that would limit the ability to taste any and all food systems we develop or produce
