Manager, Programming Operations
Join
CPAC to build on 30 years of unfiltered access to Canadian democracy. The Cable Public Affairs Channel is Canada's only national bilingual media outlet focused exclusively on politics and public affairs.
The Role:
The Manager, Programming Operations coordinates the day-to-day production activities of the programming department as well as planning the technical execution of large-scale special projects.
Accountability:
Works under the direction of the VP, Programming Operations and Communications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervises full and parttime staff, contractors, and freelancers. Ensures efficient scheduling of staff and resources, and manages performance as required;
- Oversees
CPAC's assets to maximize programming opportunities; - Maintains relationships with external stakeholders, suppliers, and vendors;
- Guides, directs, and mentors all production groups including studio and control room crews, ENG camera, etc.;
- Monitors adherence to production and technical standards;
- Identifies and addresses production process issues, develops, and ensures efficient workflows;
- Works alongside editorial and engineering staff to contribute to annual planning of new equipment and capital purchases;
- Ensures departmental procurement adheres to financial policies and tracks expenses to ensure they are within budget and approved per financial policies and controls;
- Assists in the preparation and monthly tracking of the budgets for the department;
- Participates in staff, communications, and other corporate meetings as required;
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications (knowledge, skills and experience required):
- Diploma or degree from technical college or university in telecommunications, video recording, film, radio/television production, or equivalent experience;
- Five years' experience in film or television production;
- Three years' experience in a supervisory position;
- Bilingual (French and English);
- Excellent financial, organizational and time management skills;
- Strong project management skills and experience;
- Utilizes creative problemsolving techniques to develop innovative solutions;
- Provides mentorship and training support to personnel developing leadership and management skills;
- Familiar with the Canada Labour Code and all other relevant legislation, including occupational health and safety legislation;
- Ability to work to exacting standards, including critical deadlines under high stress situations;
- Creates an environment that recognizes, supports, respects, and welcomes diversity of employees.
