Communications Assistant - Summer Student


The Centre for Family Medicine (CFFM) is currently seeking a
four-month
student position to join our team as a Communications Assistant
on a full-time
basis (up to 35 hours per week). This role is a mix of virtual and in office.


Position Overview


This role will support the family health team in better communicating with patients, community members as well as health care professionals.

This role will help design a communication plan that will including website updates, social media and general improvements in communications.

In working with our Director of Strategy and Community Initiatives, this role will provide a framework for a communications strategy by the end of the role.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design a communication plan and strategy in partnership with the Director of Strategy and Community Initiatives
  • Review, update and provide guidance on CFFM website layout and foresee the changes
  • Social media content development, support gaining followers on the various platforms
  • Meeting with clients or management to discuss the design plan and needs of the website
  • Writing code for the website
  • Collaborating with team members to determine the website's layout, content, and design
  • Integrating graphics, audio, and video into the website
  • Monitoring website traffic and making adjustments
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

Other skills that are considered an asset:

  • In a post-secondary education
  • Excellent information technology skills including working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office 36
  • Excel
  • Strong understanding of website development including crossbrowser compatibility, and general web functionality and standards
  • Experience with digital tools or social media platforms
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively, to optimize productivity and meet critical deadlines with specific attention to detail in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong selfstarter, able to effectively prioritize key tasks and deliverables with limited daytoday direction, are a solution orientated thinker
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and take direction from health care professionals
  • Proven ability to keep confidential information regarding patients, health care providers, employees, business operations and team information
  • Conscientious, flexible and adaptable
