Plains is looking for a qualified journeyperson to join as an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. Reporting to the Area Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of reliability for equipment at stations, terminals, and gathering systems in compliance with company standards and procedures. Proficiency in automation and PLC programming is crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, install, and commission electrical equipment safely and efficiently
- Install, program, and commission various PLCs, communications equipment, and HMIs
- Inspect and test the operation of instrumentation and systems
- Provide electrical support and maintenance to ensure system reliability
- Develop and execute equipment lockouts
- Offer technical input and scope development for Operations, projects, and turnarounds
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and complete necessary reports
- Consult manuals, diagrams, and blueprints for test and maintenance procedures
- Maintain facility records and update drawings as needed
- Focus on safety, complete all required training, and comply with regulations
- Provide on-call support during non-business hours for emergencies
Qualifications:
- Certified Interprovincial Journeyperson—Instrumentation Technician, Industrial Electrician, or Electrician—dual ticketed as an Instrumentation Technician
- Experience in PLC programming
- Background in gas plant, refinery, pipeline, or oilfield operations
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems such as Maximo
- Understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Residence within 100 km of the Sherwood Park office
- Clear criminal history check and satisfactory references
- Compliance with the company's Drug & Alcohol Policy
- Valid Driver's License with a clean abstract
