Options Community Services is a non-profit registered charity providing social services primarily in Surrey, Delta, White

Rock and Langley. We believe in helping people help themselves. We believe in collaborating with individuals,

businesses, community groups and government to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the

community.

The Surrey Youth Resiliency Program, provides 1-1 mentorship and education support to children and youth between

the ages of that have gang affiliation or family history of gang involvement. The Surrey Youth Resiliency

specialist connects individuals to services such as prosocial activities, health supports and education resources to youth

that may have emotional, social, behavioral and mental health issues.

The Outreach Worker connects individuals to services such as prosocial activities, health supports and education

resources to youth that may have emotional, social, behavioural and mental health issues.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Working with children and youth, ages 518, who may display emotional, social, behavioral or mental health
issues.

  • Responsible for facilitating 11 or group activities in the community.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing strategies designed to work toward individual client goals such as
the development of social and life skills, communication skills, behavior management skills and increased
independence.

  • Maintains regular contacts with community professions through report writing and scheduling regular visits.
  • Responsible for scheduling, report writing, budgeting, maintaining contact with professionals, parents, or
community specialist that are in support of the youth's service plan.

  • Inputs daily activities on OCS' client management system
  • Nucleus.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining community partnerships with Surrey Schools, the City of Surrey,
the Ministry for Children and Families Development and other community agencies in order to access resources
and engage youth.

  • Evening and some weekends are included.

We're Hiring

  • A Bachelor's Degree or a combination of relevant training, education and experience working in the social
service or related fields.

  • First Aid Certificate is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Direct working experience with at risk youth involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Group facilitation skills an asset.
  • Full time use of reliable vehicle and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Crisis Line training is an asset.
