Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Financial Specialist, General Accounting, is responsible for ensuring a smooth month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statement reporting process.

Coordination of the reporting process for monthly internal financial statements and quarterly and year end audited financial statements is required including monitoring cash flows, and distribution, calculation, and reconciliation of MOH/Ontario Health funding from multiple funding programs.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent, related experience
  • MIS-OHRS Level 1 & II Certification preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to investigate and resolve problems, capable of working under pressure to meet rigid deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a consultative approach
  • Demonstrated excellence in quantitative and qualitative analysis and evaluation
  • Able to guide, counsel & coordinate day to day general ledger activities
  • Advanced time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to investigate and resolve problems and to work under pressure to meet rigid deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting practices inluding CPA Standards and Guidance (CPA Handbook/PSAS Handbook)
  • Current knowledge of Ministry of Health funding policies and requirements
  • Knowledge of changes to MIS reporting requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of how statistical and financial parameters interact to affect end of the day operating efficiencies
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at Lawson and LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
