Responsibilities:

  • Direct and train all fulltime and temporary team members within the department.
  • Assist in the efficient running of the shipping dock
  • Manage the offloading of return loads
  • Ensure trailers are loaded quickly and efficiently
  • Maintain the shipping dock in a clean and safe condition
  • Perform dispatching functions as needed
  • Liaising with other departments as required
  • Able to resolve problems, and identify trends and communicate issues to relevant parties
  • Work in conjunction with Manager and Supervisor, Shipping to achieve highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Analyze workload and adjust staff accordingly to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Work in conjunction with Manager and Supervisor, Shipping to communicate any performance management issues and coach as needed
  • Stimulate continuous process improvements
  • Support all company sponsored programs and initiatives.
Provide positive leadership and seek out opportunities to maintain and enhance morale.

  • Providing frequent and constructive feedback as required.
  • Communicate departmental standards, expectations, goals, changes and policies to all team members.
  • Performs administrative duties in the Shipping office including but not limited to : load scheduling, assisting with Bills of Lading (BOL), liaising with Stores for BOL requests, distributing store trailer seals, maintaining daily shipping log, Transaver duties and equipment ordering
  • Ensure team member safety through education and training, promoting safety awareness and accountability and by promptly addressing potential hazards.
  • Comply with Toys"R"Us Health and Safety policies, procedures and standards and with the OHSA to ensure a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Monitor DC safety, physical security and operational metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education or relevant experience
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, math and organizational skills
  • Must have prior experience with using computers and possess basic computer skills – MS Office (Word and Excel) is an asset
  • Knowledge of AS400
  • Knowledge and understanding of Warehouse Management Systems and RF technology is an asset
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and use sound judgment to make decisions
  • People Management – ability to assess skills and manage the work and productivity of others while coaching and developing talent
  • Conflict management skills – ability to view conflict as an opportunity to find common ground and gain cooperation from all parties.
  • Must have high initiative, integrity and dependability and demonstrate responsible, ethical and honest behavior in all tasks
