_ Credit Officer_

How does the role impact the organization?


As a member of the Credit team, you will play an integral role in the effective monitoring and management of retail credit usage with Raymond James Ltd.

You will utilize your experience in the securities industry and risk management knowledge to ensure margin accounts are maintained within established regulatory and internal requirements.


What will your role be responsible for?

  • Monitor and regulate debits in Margin, Cash, and RRSP accounts for assigned branches;
  • Authorize EFT, wire transfer, and cheque requests based on risk management;
  • Review client portfolios for margin/credit related issues (security/sector concentration risk);
  • Approve internal transfers, account transferins, as well as third party requests and stock withdrawals;
  • Assist in monitoring and approving trades on the Order Routing System for trade restricted accounts;
  • Respond to queries from all departments relating to Credit policies and procedures and regulatory rules;
  • Prepare regular capital reporting for Finance department based on CIRO capital requirements;
  • Review third party requests to ensure policy adherence and perform AML sanction screening; and
  • Participate in department initiatives and projects related to the Credit department and overall Operations division.

Knowledge of

  • MS Office particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBi and Outlook
  • Canadian securities industry
  • Margin account maintenance and portfolio reviews
  • Operations at an investment dealer firm

Educational / Previous Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of Canadian securities industry or related financial industry experience ;
  • Post-Secondary education with a focus in Business/Finance/Economics;
  • Fundamental investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry
  • Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, or related courses are an asset;
  • Demonstrated welldeveloped interpersonal and customer service skills with previous client service experience;
  • Work within daily deadlines in a high volume and demanding environment while maintaining a high level of service;
  • Excellent group dynamics and the desire to work in a team environment;
  • Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team;
  • Demonstrate a professional manner to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization; and
  • Proactive in selfdevelopment and continuous learning to achieve required knowledge objectives
  • Verbal and written proficiency French is a strong asset.
