Responsibilities

JOB OVERVIEW

The role of Manufacturing Engineering Specialist involves determining how products are manufactured efficiently and safely. We are seeking someone who is innovative, can handle complexity, and embraces uncertainty.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the main point of contact for Engineering, Operations, and Quality to support product manufacturing, driving continuous improvement, and resolving design/production issues
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to gather product feedback, enhance inter-departmental processes, procedures, and communication
  • Establish, document, and communicate engineering standards that utilize internal capabilities
  • Manage multiple projects effectively while meeting deadlines, maintaining quality, and adhering to budgets
  • Offer technical assistance to project managers, engineers, and shop personnel regularly
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of product lines, best practices, and relevant industry standards
  • Review design packages to ensure adherence to practices that support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and lean manufacturing
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement while upholding quality standards
  • Engage in design reviews and project close-out meetings as necessary
  • Oversee Engineering Change Requests/Notices by coordinating changes, monitoring trends, and suggesting design and process enhancements
  • Ensure all modifications during equipment manufacturing are documented, captured, and communicated to the engineering team
  • Provide training and guidance to internal team members to promote best practices in future projects
  • Perform any other assigned duties

Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Proficiency in interpreting, creating, and understanding engineering prints for machining, welding, and assembly
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Office
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of sanitary design requirements is advantageous
  • Experience in project management and PFMEA is a plus
  • LEAN training is a bonus
