Job description


Maple Tree Consulting and Support Services works closely with Children's Services and Collaborative Service Delivery (CSD) agencies throughout the Edmonton area to provide support to children, youth, and families.

Our programs include Group Care, Family Time, Urgent Support, Youth Work, and Home Assessment Reports.

Maple Tree is looking for an experienced and reliable individual that can bring a wealth of knowledge about Human Resources to the table.


  • Create, review and update client policies, handbooks, and other documents to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices
  • Keep current with existing and proposed laws and regulations affecting HR practices
  • Participate in and lead specialized projects such as compensation reviews, HR audits, accreditation, and HRIS implementations
  • Assist the Leadership Team through the Accreditation process
  • Provide recruitment support
  • Investigate and work with the Leadership team to resolve employee relations issues
  • Provide guidance on performance and disciplinary issues
  • Assist with the administration of terminations
  • Prepare material for training sessions and seminars
  • Other HR & Administrative tasks, as required

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to give and receive feedback
  • Willingness to learn new technology and systems

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Human Resources
  • 35 years of experience working in the field of HR
  • Payroll experience is considered an asset
  • CPHR designation, or interest in pursuing the designation, is considered an asset
  • PCP or CPM designation would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Accreditation Council accreditation standards would be considered an asset
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel from site to site, as necessary
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last 6 months
  • Child Welfare Intervention Record Check completed within the last 6 months

  • A comprehensive benefit package is available for full time positions
  • This position is primarily remote but may be changed at the employer's discretion
