Is this you?You are a great heavy-duty mechanic. That's a given. You can troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. You love to the feeling that comes from managing the company fleet and keeping everything running smoothly in challenging conditions.
This position is NOT for just anyone. We are not hiring just a mechanic with expertise. We want great people who fit like a glove into our great company culture.
As the Heavy-Duty Mechanic, you are responsible for performing skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of our company fleet. Working remotely and independently, you will have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but you are expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.
Your schedule & Pay:
Our mechanics are on 8 days on, 6 days off rotation.

You will be in the shop, so you need themDiagnose defects in fleet and provide service for company fleet.Provide routine maintenance as well as possible engine overhauls.Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults/ malfunctions.Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other mechanical components. Diagnose any faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair that is required.Inspect, repair, and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units.Perform incidental welding operations on equipment. (If qualified)Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.Operate automotive servicing equipment.Installation of new and added-on equipment.Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.Accurate completion of work orders and time sheets.Repair cooling, and lubrication systems.Repair mechanical transmissions, drivetrains, and final drives.Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.Test repaired equipment for proper performance.Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.Instruct and assist apprentices.Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.Maintain a clean working environment and good housekeeping practices.Work away from home in other AFD branches at times if requested.Other related duties as required or assigned.Some overtime and after-hours work may applyCommunicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting3+ years experience as a Heavy-Duty MechanicRed Seal Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Mechanic Certification assetHigh School Diploma or GED assetProfessional written and verbal communication skillsB620 experience is valuedCVIP license is an assetAdvanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and e-mail Class 1 & 3 license is a valuable asset
