We are actively looking for a highly motivated individual that is dedicated to understanding how the environment that we live in impacts our health. We are focused on understanding how the air we breathe impacts immune responses and modulates gene expression in, and function of, our airways. The selected candidate will be involved in research studies focused on human exposure to pollutants (diesel exhaust, phthalates, allergens), studying the associations between exposure, lung responses and health outcomes.
Responsibilities- Interpret data from human exposures/immunological studies and conduct statistical analysis
- Write scientific publications and present results at international conferences
- Support research grant writing
- Be involved in the supervision of research projects
- Provide support to other researchers, masters and PhD students
- PhD degree in any of the following fields: biomedical or respiratory sciences, immunology or biostatistics with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Advanced knowledge of respiratory biology or immunology and ideally statistical treatment of data, preferably using mixed effects models
- Data analysis experience and/or expertise in R or python a strong asset.
- Knowledge of human environmental / occupational exposures to pollutants is an asset.
- Expertise in the analysis of biological samples using techniques such as ELISAs, western blotting, cell culture, RT-PCR or 'Omics technologies.
- Significant record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in project and grant writing is an asset
- Rigor, motivation, scientific creativity and originality, writing skills, conciseness, sense of priority and ability to work in a team
- Salary: $ additional funding
- Start Date: Negotiable
- Term: 1-year fixed-term contract with likelihood of renewal to 2-3 years
