As the Head of Human Resources Law (Employment & Partnership) in KPMG Canada, you will be the key legal advisor on employment and partner relationships. Reporting to the General Counsel and closely working with the Human Resources team and Office of the Partner, you will support the firm's strategic goals in employment law and partnerships, ensuring legal compliance and risk management.

What You Will Do
  • Strategic Legal Advisory:
    • Provide expert legal counsel on Canadian employment law matters such as recruitment, employee relations, and workplace investigations.
    • Offer guidance on human resources aspects of partnership matters and assist with global mobility and gig workers.
  • Policy Development and Compliance:
    • Lead the legal aspects of developing and implementing employment policies to ensure compliance with laws and industry standards.
    • Ensure partner agreements align with legal requirements and provide compliance advice to partners and leadership.
  • Employee Relations and Partner Management:
    • Support HR and management in resolving complex issues and legal disputes.
    • Collaborate with the Office of the Partner to address partner-related matters effectively.
  • Training and Education:
    • Develop training programs on employment law topics for HR professionals, managers, and partners.
  • Legal Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate legal risks in employment and partnership matters.
    • Oversee legal disputes and stay informed on legal developments.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws degree from a Canadian law school.
  • 15+ years of employment law experience in Canada.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws and partnerships.
  • Experience in litigation and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
