Job Profile: Senior Analyst, Analytics & Insight

Reports to: Senior Manager, Analyitics & Insight

Role Mandate:

Under the leadership of Sr. Manager, Analytics & Insights, this role provides analytical support by compiling, reviewing, and analyzing competitive and industry data to assist in the development of strategy initiatives and achieving format objectives.

What You'll Do:

Decision Support/Analytics

  • Assist division team by conducting analysis required to support the development of long-term strategic plans to improve market position, competitive position, sales, and profit.
  • Conduct market reviews of the division's competitive landscape and category deep dives on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide information to category teams that will assist in identifying and diagnosing reasons for gains and losses.
  • Compile and issue weekly performance reporting (i.e. market share, pricing, etc.)

Strategic Initiative Support

  • Compile company, competitive, consumer, and industry information to identify and analyze trends and opportunities for division/category
  • Identify and analyze critical information to develop business insights and bring forward recommendations
  • Leverage financial analysis and financial modeling to identify business opportunities

Annual/Quarterly Planning Analysis

  • Conduct analysis required for aligning and measuring key metrics in support of objectives
  • Collect and consolidate data required for periodic market reviews with actionable insights for the Division on category deep dives, vendor relations, and promotional strategies
  • Conduct risk assessments to inform on next steps and impacts to goal achievement
  • Other duties may be assigned as required

What You'll Need:

  • Post-secondary education (finance, economics, statistics, mathematics)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Capable of working within a demanding schedule.
  • Previous experience in retail operations and/or merchandising planning is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and strong time management skills.
  • Independent problem solving.
  • Ability to think critically.
  • Ability to analyze a lot of data to bring forward key takeaways into and easy to read framework.
  • Resourcefulness.
  • SQL experience.
  • Modelling skills are an asset
  • Experience with Nielsen preferred
