The Information & Technology Services Unit requires a Technical Specialist (Internal Job Title - Technical Support Specialist), who will report to the Manager, Network & Infrastructure.

In this position you will provide technical expertise while playing a key role in supporting, delivering and the implementation of infrastructure services and cloud adoption in support of Toronto Community Housing's network and infrastructure technology environment.


What you'll do

  • Provide second level onsite/remote support of LAN/WAN, servers, networking, cloud for users within the Company including the configuration, installation, hardware and software and support
  • Support the administer of Azure Cloud foundations and services including cloud backup and recovery
  • Identify, document, escalate and manage vulnerability resolutions
  • Implement solutions based on best practices and compliance with security and corporate guidelines
  • Troubleshoot Cloud related issues to resolve operational issues and restore/optimize services
  • Assist with Cyber-Security risk assessments on emerging threats, vulnerabilities and work with IT staff and external vendors to remediate
  • Identify, document, escalate, and manage cyber security events/incidents with strict adherence to published policies
  • Assists the Manager with the development of project plans, determining requirements, researching, evaluating and recommending solutions to support the infrastructure
  • Provide guidance for project team members with respect to specific projects or tasks and monitors progress and results. Ensure project deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Ensures the performance of the Company's physical data and communications infrastructure and network through the monitoring of performance indicators and troubleshooting connectivity problems
  • Escalate issues, problems, risks, and constraints to appropriate parties for clarification and resolution
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security Team to ensure proper controls are deployed to cloud services
  • Integrate, configure, document and deploy compliant infrastructure and supporting services to cloud platform
  • Perform data backup and recovery to ensure the availability and integrity of user data, databases and the network environment
  • Develop, maintain and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure security policies and procedures adhering with Cybersecurity policy and governance
  • Monitor production, development and UAT environments and initiates corrective actions as required
  • Analyze and implement new operating system revisions/service packs and security updates to ensure the security and reliability of the corporate infrastructure environment
  • Develop deployment and operational support procedures and related documentation
  • Provide technical support for corporate development, testing, and training environments
  • Advise users of the optimum use and capabilities of their systems/software
  • Analyze patterns and trends in problems encountered to identify and address common user issues
  • Collaborate with Incident Manager in integrating event management alerts into the incident management tool
  • Support IT projects throughout the lifecycle by preparing the development, test, preproduction and production environments and configuring the servers and associated software
  • Develop, document, implement, maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation and run books for all systems
  • Provides guidance and support to other Infrastructure Support Specialists
  • Attends the weekly ITSM and Operations Review and the Incident/Problem Review meetings as required
  • Participate in afterhours oncall rotation with team members as agreed and scheduled with the Manager
  • Some travel may be involved

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education, certification
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure administration, developing, coordinating, planning, delivering and deploying cyber security practices hybrid cloud/onpremises environment
  • Previous experience with Azure InfrastructureasaService (IaaS), PlatformasaService (PaaS) and SaaS
  • A solid understanding of enterprise storage, compute and networking technologies
  • Working knowledge of Azure Active Directory Connect synchronization software
